What is SEO?

The process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as “natural,” “organic,” or “earned” results.  There are many components of an SEO strategy, but the two major components are on-site and off-site.

On-site refers to the structure of your website and the technical factors of how pages are built.  Making sure you have good titles, tags, enough content on your page, content that is properly optimized for the keywords you are targeting, that you are avoiding duplicate content, no-following duplicate content, including images with the proper alt text, links on you site have anchor text diversity, properly set up XML sitemaps with the right weightings, etc.

Off Site factors are related to how the rest of the internet views your website.  This is comprised of links that point back to your site, the diversity of anchor text used, what authority or rank the site/page that is linking to you.  The type of link it is, the behavior of people when they see you result on the search page,  shares from social networks, and citations of your business.

What is Content Marketing?

According to the Content Marketing Institute

“content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action. ”

Basically by creating useful content, people will make your site a destination when they need information about that topic.  This is tightly related to reputation marketing as well which sets you up as an expert or leading authority on a topic.

Combine SEO and Content Marketing for Best Results

Focusing only on SEO and ignoring content is a recipe for poor performance.  By combining both of these factors and throwing in some reputation marketing can really kick start your marketing.  A whole lot of links won’t help you if no one stays on your site or they don’t find what they were looking for.  Having an active blog is critical to keep you site fresh and keep traffic coming to your site.  We have a range of packages to fit every budget and can customize any plan to uniquely suit our clients.
